Art and the City
Arte y Ciudad
“The city includes important spatial elements, and these have an influence on our notion of where and how were are situated in the world, and can therefore change our way of thinking and acting politically”
— David Harvey
Cultural and territorial policies are key to promoting the image of cities and countries. They increase a sense of belonging amongst residents, attract a larger flow of visitors due to cultural offerings, bestow international prestige, strengthen the country’s image, and generate a patrimony for generations to come.
Ch.ACO develops public and community art projects by coordinating municipal operations, cultural institutions, and private entities in order to create a context for the city’s cultural and economic development. Through high-impact contemporary art pieces, communities coexist with urban interventions that address sociological, ecological, and social subject matters.
